TV5MONDE has increased its Vietnam coverage with two additional platforms. The IPTV platform from FPT (Financial Promoting Technology Communication) covers Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and its nearby provinces. FPT is the second largest ISP in Vietnam with 1 million broadband subscribers and about 12,300 IPTV subs as of October 2008. VTC Multimedia’s upcoming DTH platform due to launch end of this year is the leading state-owned broadcaster with 2.9 million subs at year-end 2007. The current distribution of TV5MONDE in Vietnam includes cable services from VTV and all its affiliates, analogue cable on VCTV affiliates, cable on Ho Chi Minh City TV, as well as DTT coverage on VTC, for a total 3 million subscribers. The two new agreements are expected to widen coverage to 3.5 million in the next two years. In the Philippines, TV5MONDE signed an agreement with the Philippines Cable Television Association (PCTA) to assist the channel in recruiting PCTA members as affiliates, promoting TV5MONDE to PCTA members and the general public, record keeping and monthly reporting. In parallel, TV5MONDE renewed their agreement with SkyCable’s DTH platform in both the Gold and Silver tiers, and signed a new agreement with Destiny Cable’s future DTH offer, called G-Sat. The new regional platform will provide 21 channels, including TV5MONDE, to audiences in the Philippines, Taiwan, Eastern China, Japan and Korea. TV5MONDE’s current distribution in the Philippines totals 1.1 million subscribers.
