He has decided that it is time to move on to new challenges and we respect his decision and wish him well,” says a spokesman. Asked by Television Asia Plus about a percieved increased focus on cricket at the expense of other sports, ESS spokesman said that cricket accounts for around 1,000 hours of production per year. “In addition to acquired content, we produce over 3,650 hours of top class original programming per year. This includes more than 1,500 hours of original football content, we dedicate nearly 280 hours of top-notch preview and post-race coverage to F1 fans across the region. For news, we produce over 1,000 hours of top-class original sports news programming every year.” Continued the spokesman, “With regards to your query on cricket coverage, as a regional broadcaster, we recognize that sports fans in Asia are not a homogeneous audience so while we have made new acquisitions for cricket, we continue to cater to a varied audience base with differentiated offerings in terms of our acquired properties and original programming. Our staff remains extremely motivated and committed and we continue to work towards creating the most entertaining, relevant and engaging programming across sports for our pan regional audience.” Last week saw ESS’s former senior vice president human resources Alice Foo, join Discovery Networks Asia Pacific as vice president, human resources.
