Ho Chi Minh City – 14 January 2009 saw the crowning of the second Vietnam Idol in Ho Chi Minh City. Quoc Thien, who hails from Gia Kiem, a small town located 80km from Ho Chi Minh City emerged as the winner after six months of competition which drew over 15,000 Vietnamese hopefuls for the auditions. 21-year-old Quoc Thien, a student of the Ho Chi Minh Conservatory of Music, took home the cash prize and a recording contract. “Idols has discovered another great talent in Asia and we look forward to inviting Quoc Thien to perform as a guest on Idols series across the region,” said Patrick Schult, managing director of FremantleMedia Asia.
