Singapore – Pay TV revenue registered the highest growth for StarHub in 2008, while SingTel added 13,000 new subscribers, bringing its total to 59,000. For StarHub, Pay TV revenue registered the highest growth – a 17% lift. Mobile remained the major revenue contributor at 51%. Pay TV, Broadband, Fixed Network Services and Sales of Equipment contributed 19%, 12%, 14% and 5% respectively to the mix. Pay TV revenue jumped 17% to S$398 (US$264 million) million from US$226 million. This was driven by a larger customer base, which increased 4% YoY and higher ARPU, which at US$37.8 was US$4 higher from a year ago. The number of customers on the digital platform increased 24% to 504,000 households with digital customers making up 96% of the total customer base. As at end 2008, the total customer base saw a 4% increase to 524,000. Over at SingTel, in the quarter, 13,000 new customers signed up for mio TV, bringing its total customer base to 59,000. Company says this reflects the successful introduction of mio Home, a service plan bundling mio TV, fixed broadband and fixed line at one fixed monthly price and increased sign-ups for the popular Season Pass SingTel also secured the broadcasting rights for the Italian Serie A soccer matches this quarter, broadening its sports content offerings.
