Bangladesh – Desh TV, a new private satellite started broadcasting officially on March 26. With a promise to ensure objectivity and professionalism in presentation, the channel began its journey through the live telecast of national anthem from Shikha Chironton at historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the city. Asaduzzaman Noor, lawmaker and MD of Desh TV said at a press conference that the channel is committed to presenting healthy entertainment, thought and society as the role of TV media is inevitable in building a healthy and progressive-minded society. With regards to the issue of political influence in programmes and news shown on the channel, the lawmaker said that programmes and news of the channel will reflect large-scale professionalism, and that the highest honour will be paid to the spirit of liberation war through their plan and programmes.
