STAR India has recruited Bharti Airtel’s chief marketing officer Sanjay Gupta as the chief operating officer. Gupta will join STAR in early May. The COO of the company Jagdish Kumar, will head the recently created joint venture between STAR and the Jupiter Group, STAR Jupiter in the south. He will continue to report to STAR India CEO Uday Shankar. Gupta will be based in Mumbai, with Star India’s channel heads reporting to him. He was responsible for driving marketing, sales and distribution for Bharti Airtel. Prior to Bharti, he played a key marketing role in Hindustan Unilever in various functions such as oral and home care divisions.
