Beijing/Singapore – MTV Networks International has appointed Mei Yan to the position of managing director, MTV Networks China and chief representative of Viacom Asia Inc in China. Based in Beijing, Mei will report to Indra Suharjono, executive vice president and managing director, MTV Networks Southeast Asia and Greater China. Mei will be responsible for overseeing operations of MTV Networks’ business in China including the 24-hour MTV China in Guangdong, Nickelodeon and all of its brand extensions, MTV and Nickelodeon branded co-productions in the mainland, digital media and consumer products. Mei will also be responsible for Viacom Asia Inc.’s new business development and governmental relations. Mei previously served in a variety of roles within News Corp and STAR’s China operations including chief strategy officer, chief representative and chief corporate alliance officer. Prior to her time with News Corp/STAR, she was the vice president of network marketing and distribution for Turner International Asia Pacific, Ltd, relocating to Asia after ten years in a variety of management and journalistic positions at CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta.
