Australia – The Chairman of public broadcaster SBS, Carla Zampatti, has been appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia in this year’s Queen’s birthday honours list. Zampatti was honoured for her business leadership along with her contribution to multicultural broadcasting. She was appointed SBS Chairman in December 1999 and was reappointed for a further five years in December 2004, reports The Australian. Also honoured were veteran television journalist Ian Leslie and radio broadcaster and media trainer Steve Ahern, who were both awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia. Zampatti is also a fashion designer who owns 30 boutiques around Australia.
