Beijing – Leland Ling, CEO of major Media organisation LIC China announced the appointment of Australian documentary maker, Peter Du Cane, to head up its productions for global television and related markets. A major player in the domestic Chinese market, with five daily timeslots broadcast on 80 channels over an area covering 92% of the country’s 470 million television households (with 1.2 billion potential viewers), LIC is the largest importer of foreign documentaries into China. Now the company wants to expand its productions to become a major exporter of quality Chinese documentaries tailored for the tastes of television audiences throughout the world. “The team I’m putting together will be actively seeking out the best documentaries from all around China, and will also look to bringing in the occasional overseas specialists from Australia, or other countries, to assist in the ambitious plan,” said Du Cane.
