Singapore – NBC Universal Global Networks Asia Pacific announced a series of new initiatives for its portfolio of channels in the region. The announcements were made by Raymund Miranda, managing director NBC Universal Global Networks Asia Pacific. Mongolia and Indonesia becomes the sixth and seventh markets in the Asia Pacific region to broadcast the full suite of Global Networks channel. SCI FI and KidsCo (a joint venture with Cookie Jar Group and Corus Entertainment Inc) join Hallmark and Universal Channels on Indovision as it launches a bigger bouquet of channels in Indonesia. SCI FI, Universal Channel, Hallmark Channel and KidsCo also launched in Mongolia on DTH platform DDish last month. Finally, SCI FI debuted on leading Philippine MSO Sky Cable in July after launching in the Philippines last April. These moves are part of NBCU Global Network’s continued channels expansion in the Asia Pacific region and are central to the company’s objective, led by Roma Khanna, President, Global Networks & Digital Initiatives, to grow to over 100 channels internationally by 2010. Khanna commented, “The Asia Pacific continues to be a region that represents significant growth opportunities for our channel brands. It is a region that we remain very committed to investing in.” NBC Universal Global Networks has been expanding its coverage of the Asia Pacific region since its launch in November 2007. Hallmark Channel is now in 20 Asia Pacific countries, SCI FI is now in 11 countries, Universal Channel in 8 countries and KidsCo in 12 countries.
