Singapore – Popular entertainment news television program, TMZ, is now available to audiences in Asia on HBO Asia’s network of channels. Daily news segments will be available within 24-hours of airing in the US from Tuesdays to Saturdays and will air after the 9pm (SIN) movie on HBO from 1 September 2009. The program is also available on HBO Signature, HBO Hits and MAX. TMZ stands for Thirty Mile Zone (Hollywood slang for the area around Los Angeles) and has broken a string of Hollywood showbusiness news including being the first to announce the death of Michael Jackson. Other scoops include the audiotape of Christian Bale’s profanity-laced tirade on the Terminator Salvation film set; the angry and abusive voice mail Alec Baldwin left for his 11-year-old daughter; Mel Gibson’s driving under the influence (DUI) arrest and subsequent anti-Semitic tirade; and Paris Hilton’s trip to jail. Originating from the heart of Hollywood and regularly referenced and utilized by thousands of global newsgathering organizations, TMZ delivers the news from the middle of their newsroom, giving viewers an all-access feel to the program.
