Singapore – StarHub announced its acquisition of a wide variety of new content for its VOD platform which includes movies and series from Hollywood, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Indonesia. Rolled out in phases recently, much more content will be lined up for the coming months, says StarHub in a written statement. StarHub has sealed a deal with Paramount Pictures that will make it the first pay TV operator in Singapore to offer Hollywood blockbusters from the mega movie house on a transactional VOD platform. Beginning January 2010, movie fans can look forward to the latest movies about six months from theatrical releases, as well as library titles from Paramount Pictures in the comforts of their homes. Movies in the line-up over the coming weeks include Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Star Trek. Some movie titles will also be available in HD. These movies will be available to MaxOnline customers via StarHub TV Online as well. In addition, fans of Hollywood glamour and gossip will be delighted by StarHub’s new deal with Comcast International Media Group (CIMG) to offer TV specials from E! such as Sexiest Season 2 and 25 Most Memorable Swimsuit Moments on its VOD platform. A new Hot & Haunted category of content rated ‘16’ or ‘18’ will be added to StarHub’s VOD line-up on 15 January 2010. This category will feature movies and series covering horror, gore, sex and violence. Among the many titles available from mid January are A Chain of Curses (Japanese), Temptation of Eve (Korean) and Susuk Pocong (Indonesian). Some of these titles will also be made available via StarHub TV Online. StarHub has also teamed up with three leading content providers in Asia to offer new content on its VOD platform. StarHub will work with TVB to offer popular TVB classic dramas on its VOD platform. These classics, such as The Bund, Return Of the Condor Heroes 1983, Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre and The Duke Of Mount Deer, are available in both Mandarin and in its original Cantonese language. StarHub also sealed a VOD content deal with Celestial Movies and titles will be offered in dual Cantonese-Mandarin dual sound whenever the option is available. Movies that are currently being offered include The Assembly, It’s A Wonderful Life, Flash Point and Kung Fu Dunk. StarHub’s new deal with MD Entertainment will enable the pay TV operator to offer over 1,000 hours of content per year from the producer of award-winning and highly rated Indonesian sinetron. Those currently carried on StarHub’s VOD platform are Sujudku and Senyumku Tangisku.
