Kuala Lumpur – MEASAT announced that it had on 13 January 2010 brought into service the AFRICASAT-2 satellite at the 5.7°E orbital location. “The African market is emerging as a key market for satellite communications,” said Dr. Ali R. Ebadi, MEASAT’s SVP, Space Systems Development. “The commissioning of AFRICASAT-2 at 5.7°E strengthens our network coverage in this key region.” Operating in inclined orbit, AFRICASAT-2 provides both C and Ku-Band capacity for telecommunications and broadcasting services across Africa, Southern Europe and the Middle East.
