YouTube’s first live major sporting deal is to stream live Indian Premier League cricket matches worldwide, excluding the US. The Guardian (UK) reports that the two-year YouTube global deal exceeds original parameters that the Google-owned video-sharing website would stream live IPL matches only to countries that did not have rights deals with the IPL. The value of YouTube’s deal was not disclosed. However, the IPL originally sold its internet rights to the Dubai-based company netlinkblue for $50m over 10 years.
