Singapore – Irdeto announced the launch of the Center of Excellence for Digital Rights Management (DRM) Technology in Asia. Located at the company’s Eastern headquarters in Beijing, China, the centre represents a significant expansion of R&D resources and reaffirms Irdeto’s commitment to the region and to the strengthening of R&D activity and customer support levels across Asia. The new centre facilitates access to key mobile technologies for Irdeto’s broad spectrum of customers based in Asia. Device manufacturers can benefit from the ready access to latest Cloakware security technology, which can be customized to meet mobile market needs, secure content, protect intellectual property rights and to ensure continued generation of hard-won and new revenue streams. One key area that the new centre addresses is customer access to mobile DRM technologies for device manufacturers. In addition to the proven Windows Media offering, Irdeto recently launched the OMA DRM client for Google’s Android Operating System, which caters to the groundswell demand for Android-based mobile devices, smart phones, net books and other consumer electronic devices. Another key area is in the development of solutions for Digital Transmission Content Protection over Internet Protocol (DTCP-IP). Irdeto’s DTCP-IP solutions protect digital content to ensure that while content can be shared securely between mobile devices within a user’s home or a business office network, it cannot be shared with unauthorized users who are outside the network.
