Miami – Venevision International, a global entertainment company of the Cisneros Group of Companies, announced that the ‘Somos tu y yo’ (You and Me) format is a proven success for Malaysia’s Astro Ria, providing the highest numbers in the channel’s history. ‘Kau Dan Aku’, as the local version is titled, was a hit since it debuted late last year, 2009. The first episode ranked as the seventh biggest show on the entire platform of the week, captivating a 32.1 percent market share – the highest numbers Astro Ria has ever achieved for a debut of a drama series. The tween musical series continues to provide the Astro Ria with strong numbers, averaging a 20 percent market share during its timeslot, Saturday nights at 10pm, “which is outstanding when taking into consideration its young target audience and the late hour it is broadcasted, not to mention that it occasionally competes against some of the country’s major sporting events,” emphasized Cesar Diaz, Vice President of Sales for Venevision International. “We expect the success of ‘Kau Dan Aku’ to generate a great deal of business opportunities, not only of our vast catalogue, but also for the potential of co-productions and format collaborations, which are priorities for our company.” ‘Somos tu y yo’ is an integrated concept that showcases an attractive dramatic story, with a group of youngsters with musical talent, which allows different entertainment facets to be perfectly combined.
