Fremantle and FOX Entertainment’s highly anticipated sun-soaked action-drama Baywatch is heading to leading Australian streaming service Stan, following the unveiling of the streamer’s upcoming slate at its Upfronts earlier today. Also heading to Stan is Element Pictures’ tender romantic drama You Are Here starring Claire Foy and Matthew Macfadyen, and Red Planet Pictures’ gripping new thriller The Only Suspect starring Kevin McKidd.
Paul Ridley, SEVP, International Distribution, Fremantle, said, “It’s fantastic to be bringing Baywatch to Stan, alongside two more standout new dramas from our slate, You Are Here and The Only Suspect. Stan has a strong track record of bringing premium international storytelling to Australian audiences, making them a natural home for these three series. Each is a very different series, brought to life by some of the brilliant producers across the Fremantle family, but all have something special that we believe will really resonate in Australia. Together, they showcase the breadth, quality and ambition of Fremantle’s scripted slate.”
Cailah Scobie, Nine Executive Director of Entertainment Content Acquisitions, Streaming & Broadcast said, “Our partnership with Fremantle continues to bring world-class international content to Stan, and this new lineup is one of our most exciting yet. From the Baywatch reboot to the emotional You Are Here starring Claire Foy and Matthew Macfadyen, and the compelling mystery of The Only Suspect, these titles are incredibly unique and reflect our commitment to delivering premium, high-calibre drama to Australian audiences.”
BAYWATCH
The all-new Baywatch, produced by Fremantle and FOX Entertainment, comprises 12 action-packed episodes featuring the iconic red swimsuits and an all-new cast of lifeguards patrolling the world’s most famous stretch of sand, delivering high-stakes rescues, explosive drama and plenty of beachside heat.
The series stars Stephen Amell in the lead role of Hobie Buchannon, alongside Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, Shay Mitchell as Trina, Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Noah Beck as Luke, and Brooks Nader as Selene.
In recurring roles, David Chokachi reprises his original role as Cody Madison, while Livvy Dunne portrays Grace. Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin and Kelly Packard will also guest star in their roles as Shauni McClain, Jack J.D. Darius, and April Giminski, respectively.
YOU ARE HERE
From Element Pictures, a Fremantle company, You Are Here stars multi-award-winning actors Matthew Macfadyen (Succession, Legacy of Spies, Death by Lightning) and Claire Foy (All of Us Strangers, The Magic Faraway Tree, The Crown). An eight-part adaptation of David Nicholls’ (One Day, Starter for Ten, Us) critically acclaimed, best-selling novel of the same name, the series is an honest, witty and tender love story that sees Marnie and Michael unexpectedly brought together by a mutual friend before setting off on an epic walk. Against the odds, they find themselves on the brink of a relationship that neither was looking for, but which might be exactly the one they both need. Nicholls has also written the eight-part adaptation, with Lenny Abrahamson (Room, Normal People) directing.
THE ONLY SUSPECT
The Only Suspect, from Red Planet Pictures, a Fremantle company, is a suspenseful and propulsive thriller starring Kevin McKidd (Grey’s Anatomy, The Bombing of Pan Am 103, Six Four) and unfolding across two timelines. Set in a leafy London suburb, the series follows Alex and Beth, a devoted couple whose picture-perfect suburban life hides a devastating truth.
When plans to redevelop an abandoned railway track threaten to uncover a body buried thirty years earlier, a seemingly ordinary family man is forced to confront a secret from his past that could destroy the life he has built.
Fremantle handles international distribution for all three titles.
