Leading independent distributor All3Media International has reported a buoyant market in tape sales for various adaptations of the phenomena The Traitors –with a multitude of key broadcast partners acquiring other nations editions of the hit entertainment format, allowing fans to see how the game is played around the globe, and building The Traitors’ international trajectory.
Over 1,700 hours of tape sales of the show have been licensed through All3Media International, as the latest tape sale for global reality phenomenon is revealed, with BBC acquiring UK rights to Prime Video’s ratings-winning Indian adaptation.
This new deal adds to a growing tape sale slate for The Traitors franchise, with multiple versions sold across 50 territories. The Traitors India will be available in the UK on BBC iPlayer, joining adaptations from Ireland, the US, New Zealand, and Australia, plus both UK versions.
The 10 x 1 hour of Prime Video’s Hindi version of The Traitors India, hosted by celebrated media personality Karan Johar, sees 20 celebrities, including Anshula Kapoor, Apoorva, Ashish Vidyarthi, Elnaaz Nourouzi and Harsh Gujral join the ultimate game of trust and deception, set against the majestic backdrop of a palace in Suryagarh, Rajasthan. Following the first season’s premiere on Prime Video last year, it was revealed the show was watched by viewers across 88% of India’s pin codes*. A second series is currently in production. Both series are executive produced by Neha Khurana and directed by Nishant Nayak, who was awarded an Asian Academy Award for Best Director for the first season of The Traitors India. The series also took home a further accolades at the 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) in the categories Best Adaptation of an Existing Format and Best Entertainment Host (for Karan Johar).
Multiple versions of The Traitors have also been acquired by broadcasters and platforms around the world. In Canada, Bell Media’s SVOD platform Crave has rights to 11 adaptations – in addition to its own adaptation – hosting versions from New Zealand, France, Australia, the US, the Netherlands, India, Hungary, Ireland, French Canada, and the UK (regular and celebrity versions).
Network 10 in Australia has acquired The Traitors UK and The Celebrity Traitors, alongside versions from India, New Zealand and the US. And RTL Netherlands, original broadcaster of The Traitors, has licensed versions from Flemish Belgium, the UK, the US, and Australia.
All3Media International also reached a major milestone for format sales earlier this year, announcing that 40 territories have now commissioned local versions, including new adaptations in Indonesia, Slovakia, Estonia, Serbia and Malta. This follows recent commissions in Turkey, Brazil, Mexico and a second season order in India. In March, the UK’s BBC confirmed a new three-year deal that will keep The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors – both produced by Studio Lambert Scotland – on BBC One and BBC iPlayer until at least 2030.
Already a winner of multiple awards, including Emmy Awards, BAFTAs and Asian Academy Creative Awards, the franchise recently added another accolade to its trophy cabinet, as the UK’s The Celebrity Traitors was honored in the Entertainment & Reality category at the RTS Programme Awards 2026. And the format’s ever-evolving licensing programme continues to roll out, featuring a London-based live experience and a stage play confirmed for 2027, alongside a board game, card game and mobile game.
Maartje Horchner, EVP Content at All3Media International, commented, “We’re very pleased to add this latest deal to our expanding line-up of tape sales. Packed with all The Traitors’ trademark drama, intrigue and deception, Prime Video’s version has been an incredible success in India, where a second season is currently in production, and we can’t wait to see it debut in the UK. We’re proud to be the home of so many hit versions of this much-loved franchise. As well as watching their own territory’s local series, there is huge interest from fans in seeing multiple versions of the show, enabling them to dive into all the gripping twists and turns the game delivers from around the world.”
