Amazon MX Player, Amazon’s free video streaming service, and MediaHub have announced the India debut of Alaca, the first original Turkish drama from MediaHub. The series will make an exclusive debut on Amazon MX Player, marking a new chapter in the platform’s efforts to expand its international offering and bring established global titles to Indian audiences.
Alaca follows a young woman whose life is upended after a defining incident exposes a long hidden link to her biological father, a powerful figure confronting severe personal crossroads. As she searches for answers, she is pulled into long standing family tensions, shifting loyalties, and a relationship strained by truths that have remained buried for years. As the inaugural original project from MediaHub and Globalsphere Studio, Alaca has already built strong momentum beyond its home market. The series has been licensed in more than twenty territories across Central and Eastern Europe, the CIS, parts of Asia, and Latin America. In Ecuador, where it aired under the title Cicatrices Del Alma, the drama reached top primetime positions and maintained steady audience growth, demonstrating its ability to connect with viewers across different cultures.
Ebubekir Talha Erdoğan, Sales Manager for Middle East, CIS, and Asia at MediaHub, commented, “We are pleased to see Alaca meet Indian audiences through Amazon MX Player. The story speaks to shared human experiences around identity, family tensions, and inner strength. The response we have seen in other regions gives us confidence that the series will find a meaningful audience in India as well. This collaboration reflects an important step as we continue bringing our original productions to new territories.”.
For Amazon MX Player, the arrival of Alaca supports its focus on offering a broad selection of international stories that reflect the changing viewing habits of Indian audiences. The launch also comes as MediaHub continues to grow its scripted slate with its second drama, Bitter Justice, produced by Globalsphere and distributed by MediaHub. The series is currently available in international markets and forms a central part of the company’s expanding catalogue, exploring moral choices, complex relationships, and the enduring consequences of past actions.
