ARTE Distribution has announced it has just acquired Kobalt Production’s powerful new current affairs documentary, TELEGRAM, THE BIG DISRUPTOR (52’ & 90’).
Known for being the creator of one of the most famous messaging apps in the world, Pavel Durov was arrested in 2024 at Paris-Le Bourget Airport. He has been placed under formal investigation over the messaging app’s possible involvement in criminal activities. TELEGRAM, THE BIG DISRUPTOR (52’ & 90’) investigates, with meticulous attention to detail, key questions long raised by the EU: To what extent is a platform’s creator accountable for the content shared on it? At a time when geopolitical tech wars are being waged and the notion of free speech is fueling heated debates, only one question remains: is Pavel Durov a villain or a hero?
Joséphine Létang, Head of Sales at ARTE Distribution, expresses her delight: “We are happy to work with Kobalt Productions on such a thrilling investigation! Especially one that addresses the ethical and moral questions over the accountability of platforms’ executives for the content shared on these messaging apps.”
