BBC Studios have launched Arts in Motion, an ambitious editorial programme in partnership with Rolex. Produced by BBC Studios Specialist Factual Productions, the series will bring together BBC Studios deep heritage in Arts & Culture programming and Rolex’s Perpetual Arts Initiative which celebrates excellence and achievement in the arts globally.
Arts in Motion resonates with the Rolex Perpetual Arts Initiative, through an editorial content programme across the BBC’s international platforms including the BBC News Channel, the newly relaunched BBC.com, the new global BBC app and BBC Culture social media channels.
For the BBC News Channel, there will be 6 x 23-minute Arts in Motion masterclasses, showcasing great cultural figures, as they foster creativity and share their insights with the next generation. Figures including actor Brian Cox, the Vienna Philharmonic and pianist Yuja Wang will work with young creatives at the start of their career, for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as they learn how to perfect their art. The masterclasses will also be available on BBC iPlayer in the UK and associated shortform content on BBC.co.uk.
On the BBC News Channel there will also be a collection of the most electrifying moments from across the partnership, through 32 vignettes, handpicked and edited for television and designed to drive viewers to explore the content further.
These programmes will be accompanied by captivating bespoke digital content in the form of 32 x ‘Digital Shorts’ and ‘Social Videos’ for BBC.com and BBC social channels. These films are part of a holistic campaign to immerse audiences in the artists’ and mentors’ experience. They will include further high profile figures from the arts world including British-Turkish novelist Elif Shafak, Chinese film director Jia Zhang-Ke, singers from the Royal Ballet and Opera, musicians from the Salzburg Festival, artists Es Devlin and Alvaro Barrington, and many more. They will provide intimate, authentic and personal insight into the artistry behind the scenes and the journey of the next generation of artists, whilst bridging the gap between artists and audience showing the emotional journey of their artistic process.
