Leading independent distributor All3Media International has signed its latest deal with China’s Pumpkin Films, as the streaming platform secures rights to 30+ hours of premium drama.

The acquisition includes Story Films’ ratings-winning Captivated, a gripping thriller about a young mother and her son on the run from a wealthy businessman. Starring Kara Tointon and Allen Leech, this 4 x 1 hour drama recently made its debut in the UK – airing under the title Too Good to be True – and is currently one of Channel 5’s top ten shows from January 2023 to date*. Pumpkin Films has also acquired the highly anticipated upcoming second season of detective drama Ridley (4 x 2 hour), starring Adrian Dunbar and Bronagh Waugh and produced by West Road Pictures.

Two acclaimed true crime dramas from New Pictures will be heading to China on Pumpkin Films. These are Des (3 x 1 hour), starring David Tennant in his International Emmy Award-winning portrayal of serial killer Dennis Nilsen, and The Long Shadow (7 x 1 hour), a chilling tale of the hunt for Peter Sutcliffe. The Long Shadow features an all-star cast including Toby Jones, Katherine Kelly, Daniel Mays, Jill Halfpenny, Stephen Tompkinson and Lee Ingleby.

Psychological thrillers The Cry (4 x 1 hour) and The Ex-Wife (4 x 1 hour) are included in the acquisition. Already sold in over 165 territories, Synchronicity’s The Cry stars Jenna Coleman and Ewen Leslie, and The Ex-Wife, from Clapperboard Studios, Blackbox Multimedia and Night Train Media, stars Céline Buckens, Tom Mison, Janet Montgomery and Jordan Stephens.

The deal continues All3Media International’s ongoing collaboration with Pumpkin Films. As recently announced, the platform has also acquired the second series of high-octane thriller Trigger Point, which is produced by Jed Mercurio’s HTM Television and stars Vicky McClure. Previous drama acquisitions include Black Sands, The English, The Control Room, Deceit and Angela Black.
