Pixcom, Keshet International, and Thruline Entertainment have confirmed that Emily VanCamp (Marvel’s The Falcon and Winter Soldier, Revenge, The Resident) is attached to star in, and executive produce, a new legal drama developed for the Canadian and international TV markets.
Created and written by Celeste Parr (Ethel, Hudson & Rex, Plan B), Prejudice will star VanCamp as Liesl Wellington, a rising Toronto litigator whose career and marriage to a Senator are thrown into upheaval when her past as a sex worker is publicly exposed. Scorned by her field and social circle, she launches her own law firm dedicated to defending the likewise silenced and delegitimized.
Pixcom’s President Nicola Merola comments, “We are very proud to be partnering with Keshet International on this bold legal series, created by Celeste Parr, one of Canada’s top TV writers.”
Pixcom’s SVP of Content and Creative Affairs Charles Lafortune adds, “Eminently talented and likable, Emily is our perfect Liesl. We are so excited to have her on board this compelling and suspenseful procedural that forces us to examine our own biases and ideals.”
Keren Shahar, CEO of Keshet International, says, “We are delighted to be formally announcing Prejudice and our partnership with both Pixcom and Celeste on this character-driven, socially conscious series. Prejudice is a heartening legal drama that takes on all the forces that conspire to keep the underdog hidden, silent, unequal, and without agency. There are so many elements about this series that will appeal to audiences, not least having the talented Emily VanCamp cast in the lead role.”
In recent years, KI has successfully developed and produced several internationally successful productions for global platforms. Keshet Studios, its US-based studio, produced both the When Heroes Fly-remake Echo3 for Apple TV+, and A Small Light for Disney+ and National Geographic, co-produced with ABC Signature; while Keshet UK produced the False Flag-remake Suspicion for Apple TV+. In addition, KI co-produced the critically acclaimed limited drama based on true events, Our Boys, with HBO Studios for HBO; and internationally successful crime drama Rough Diamonds with De Mensen for Netflix and VRT.
Across more than three decades, Pixcom has showcased its expertise on a global stage. Its recent scripted series include the award-winning dramedy, Audrey’s Back (2022 Canneseries, Denver Colorado’s SeriesFest, Banff/Rockie Awards); Wong & Winchester; The Wall; Dark Lake; Indefensible; and Alert Squad.
Emily VanCamp is repped by Thruline Entertainment and UTA. Celeste Parr is also repped by Thruline Entertainment and Carl Liberman at The Character Talent Agency.
