Boat Rocker sells Beacon 23 to Prime Video as part of raft of global sales of premium scripted series

Boat Rocker, an independent, integrated global entertainment company, today announced a raft of international sales of its premium scripted sci-fi thriller series, Beacon 23, starring Lena Headey and Stephan James, to leading broadcasters and streamers, including Prime Video (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Sub-Saharan Africa) and Paramount (UK and Ireland).

Produced and distributed globally by Boat Rocker, the eight-episode first season of Beacon 23 has been acquired by:

  • Amazon (Prime Video) (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Sub-Saharan Africa)
  • Paramount (Channel 5, My 5, and Paramount+) (UK and Ireland)
  •  PCCW Media Entertainment (NOWSTUDIO VOD) (Hong Kong SAR and Macau)
  • Disney (Star) (Bulgaria, The Balkans)

Based on the best-selling book by Hugh Howey, Beacon 23 takes place in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way and follows Aster (Lena Headey), a government agent, and Halan (Stephan James), a stoic ex-military man, whose fates become entangled after they find themselves trapped together inside one of many Beacons that serve as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers. Every Beacon is run by one highly trained human and a specialized Artificial Intelligence. Aster mysteriously finds her way to the lonely Beacon-keeper Halan, and a tense battle of wills unfolds. Halan begins to question whether Aster is friend or foe, as her ability to disguise her agenda and motives could make her a formidable opponent.

Season two of Beacon 23 is set to premiere April 7th on MGM+ in the U.S.

Boat Rocker oversees global distribution and licensing for Beacon 23. The company also manages global distribution for a growing number of other premium scripted series, including Orphan Black: Echoes, American Rust: Broken Justice, and Slip.
