Having just announced the series’ ratings success in Israel on Reshet 13, Ron Leshem, one of the creators of Red Skies, the 8×50 minute drama series, announced that the action-packed drama series took top honors last evening at TV Series Festival Berlin by winning the “Best Drama Series Award” for 2023. The award was presented to the creators of the show, as well as the leading cast members, both Arabs and Jews who were in attendance together, by the director of the festival Mark O. Dreesen, alongside the jury members. Also, in attendance was of the Israeli ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor. This announcement follows the series’ win last week at the Global India International Film Festival in which Red Skies also took home the “Best Drama Series Award.”
“Since premiering earlier this year at Series Mania, the response for Red Skies has been truly overwhelming. From the ratings in Israel, where the show is solidly the most watched series on all VOD platforms in the country, and now to these two big wins in Germany and India, we could not be more pleased,” commented Leshem. “The deep emotional engagement in this true story of love, friendship, and espionage, made the show into a true TV event, so we are thrilled to start our journey to the international audience”.
The win at the TV Series Festival Berlin for Red Skies, which is based on the best-selling Israeli novel of the same name and inspired by true events, was unanimous with jury members.
Red Skies is created by Ron Leshem (Euphoria, No Man’s Land), Daniel Shinar (author of the novel Red Skies), Daniel Amsel (Euphoria, HBO+ Valley of Tears), Amit Cohen (Hulu’s No Man’s Land, Fox and Canal+ False Flag) and the director Alon Zingman (Netflix’s Shtisel). The series is produced by veteran producer Yoav Gross (Carthago, Manayek) along with Len Blavatnik and Danny Cohen, of Access Entertainment, who serve as Executive Producers.
