Sophie Ferron, Founder & CEO of Media Ranch, an award-winning format production and distribution company, announced six option deals today. Round Table was optioned in Europe in four countries. Two other Media Ranch original formats were optioned in the U.S.
This year Media Ranch began representation of two Korean formats from DiTurn, headed by The Masked Singer creator Wonwoo Park. The first format optioned from the partnership is singing game format Round Table with both celebrity and non-celebrity versions. It was a hit in Korea on KSB2 and recently named by industry trend watcher K7 Media as one of the “Seven to Watch” best formats. The format is now optioned in Belgium, Italy, and The Netherlands by Fremantle and in Germany by Tower Productions.
Two Media Ranch original formats were optioned in the U.S. — DIGA Studios picked up Blend & Build, created by Amélie Tintin while part of Media Ranch’s Horsepower format incubator. Blend & Build is a new renovation program with houses built for blended families. Culture House optioned Hang Sesh by TV star Tristan D. Lalla about a group of young black men trying to tap into their inner “Martha Stewart” to elevate each other and learn necessary life skills. Media Ranch’s head of content and storytelling, Philip Kalin-Hajdu, will lead development with Michael Smiroldo at DIGA Studios; and Jaimie Woo and Carri Twigg at Culture House.
Media Ranch’s Ferron stated: “We are very excited with how quickly Round Table is taking off. We are working closely with creator Wonwoo Park and his stellar team. Any time a Media Ranch original Canadian IP is optioned, it is a testament to the incredible talent of our roster of creators. Homegrown Horsepower format, Blend & Build as well as Hang Sesh are set up with great partners and both shows have a lot to say. We expect more news with these formats imminently.”
Wonwoo Park, creator of Round Table, and President of DiTurn said, “We are thankful to our partner, Media Ranch for sharing our fun Korean hit, Round Table with great European partners and look forward to seeing the show on air in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy and soon in other parts of the world.”
