Netflix film Kill Boksoon, which will make its world premiere at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, is confirmed to be released on March 31. Kill Boksoon is an action film following Boksoon, who leads a double life of a mother of a teenage daughter and a legendary professional killer at a top-tier killing agency, MK Ent.
The first poster features the killer Gil Boksoon (portrayed by Jeon Do-yeon) who works as a hired assassin with a 100% success rate of completing her assignment. Although best at her work, Boksoon struggles to raise her daughter Gil Jae-young (portrayed by Kim Si-A), who seems to be going through her own teenage emotional turmoil. With her contract renewal period impending, Boksoon decides to leave the company to find out what is keeping her teenage daughter shut away from her. The irony of her divergent life is reflected in the poster and the situations she faces, such as choosing her next target to assassinate after attending a school parents’ meeting.
People that the killer Boksoon work with are Chairman Cha Min-kyu (portrayed by Sul Kyung-gu), who recognized Boksoon’s talent at once and recruited her, and Director Cha Min-hee (portrayed by Esom) who are completely different from the people Boksoon meets as a mother. Han Hee-sung (portrayed by Koo Kyo-hwan), who is unparalleled in skill but is taken for granted at MK ent. also adds to the intrigue.
The strong and captivating ensemble cast of Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Esom and Koo Kyo-hwan meets the stylish directing, delicately crafted action sequences, and colorful portrayal of characters by writer and director Byun Sung-hyun. Director Byun Sung-hyun has proven to be a strong storyteller who brings unforgettable characters to life. His past work includes The Merciless (2017), which was invited to the 70th Cannes Film Festival, and Kingmaker (2022).
How Gil Boksoon manages the fine line between her identity as a killer and a single mother and the synergy of actors whose characters are entangled in dangerous yet intriguing relationships will unfold in Kill Boksoon, available on March 31, only on Netflix.
