In the week of January 2nd – 8th, The Glory ranked #1 in the Global Top 10 (Non-English Series) list, with an accumulated weekly view hours of 82.48M hours. The series also ranked in the Global Top 10 (TV) charts in 62 countries including Korea where it was #1. The Glory is quickly becoming a global sensation for its intricately woven storyline revolving around decades of grudges and compelling revenge schemes.
The Glory is a collaboration from Korea’s beloved writer Kim Eun-sook and master of genre Director An Gil-ho, featuring Song Hye-kyo’s first-ever genre performance. The series follows the story of bullies who are led to destruction following Dong-eun’s vengeance plan, for which she has prepared her whole life. Director An Gil-ho stated in an interview about Kim Eun-sook’s script that ‘it had all the answers written’ in it, adding, “I did my best to transform what’s on the script visually so that the viewers could immerse themselves more into the story.”
Global audiences continued to devour the season two return of Alice in Borderland from Japan, coming in at #3 with 41M view hours for its third week in the Top 10. Season One of the show stayed in the Top 10 too, landing at #7.
Premiering last week, the second part of Korean series Alchemy of Souls was the #6 Non-English show, while the reality dating show Singles Inferno (season two) continued to attract global audiences at the #9 spot.
