Leading sports entertainment platform, SPOTV, will be wrapping up the 2022 BWF season with the HSBC World Tour Finals from 7th – 11th November, in Bangkok, Thailand.
SPOTV viewers and badminton fans have been able to enjoy full coverage of over 22 BWF tournaments this year to date on its linear channels as well as on SPOTV NOW – which also included access to matches across all courts at the Total Energies Badminton World Federation World Championships earlier this year in August and additional coverage on selected events.
Anticipation is high for the BWF season finale, which will be held at the Nimibutr Arena in Bangkok, as this tournament is the ultimate showdown among badminton’s creme de la creme in 2022. The by-invitation Finals features the top eight players and pairs on the HSBC BWF World Tour rankings, with a maximum of two players or pairs per Member Association eligible.
Fans can expect action of the highest quality with all the top stars having qualified: Men’s singles world No.1 Viktor Axelsen of Denmark is leading the table, with local favorites Jonatan Christie, Anthony Ginting and Loh Kean Yew managing to hang on to their final opportunity this year to fight the good fight. The women’s singles see SEA’s representation with Thai players Ratchanok Intanon and Busanan Ongbamrungphan, while there is strong representation for SEA in all doubles categories from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand – with Indonesia’s Apriyani Rahayu & Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti earning a late call up as replacements for Japanese pair Matsuyama/Shida.
SPOTV will broadcast and stream both courts on its linear channels, SPOTV and SPOTV2, as well as on SPOTV NOW. The Group Stage Round Robins will kick off from 7 – 9 December, before the knock-out stage (Semi-finals) on 10 December, culminating in the Finals on 11 December.
SPOTV will broadcast all 31 BWF events in 2023 from January onwards. SPOTV channels are available in the Philippines on Cignal TV and Skycable
