KC Global Media, Asia’s leading entertainment network, teams up with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) on its latest script development for Fallen 8, a new sci-fi fantasy original animation series. Bringing to life the mystical Asian classic of the Eight Immortals, Fallen 8, provides a contemporary take on the original tale from the Chinese mythology about a group of celestial beings who are tested on their worth where they have “Fallen” into the present day. Through the course of their adventures, each reveals their divine power to achieve a common goal. Supported by IMDA’s Capability Partnership Programme, the script development of the original commenced in the third quarter of 2022, bringing together award-winning local and international creators to showcase Asian originals on the world stage.

Co-creator Meiling Melançon, a Hollywood screenwriter, producer, and actor, whose previous works including X-Men: The Last Stand, drama/indie Shrink, American Romance, and the sci-fi show Legends of Tomorrow, shared, “Western myths have dominated film & television while at the same time connecting audiences to our shared humanity. Robot Playground Media, the multi award-winning animation team from Singapore, and winners of the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2021 for Best Short Form Content and Best 2D/3D Animated Programme/National Category, will be working on the Fallen 8 development.
