Viu, PCCW’s leading pan-regional OTT video streaming service, wraps up the year with Finding the Rainbow, a 14-episode romantic drama series set and filmed on location in both New York City and Thailand. The love story uses significant moments in the histories of Thailand and the rest of the world as a backdrop to tell a compelling tale directed by Thanadol Nualsuth and produced by Keetawat Chinnakote. The title will be released across all 16 Viu markets from 9 November 2022.
Mr Mom Rajawongse Chalermchatri Yukol, Program Director of Viu Thailand, said, “Being an Asian OTT platform for Asia, Viu Thailand continually seeks to produce local content for audiences across borders to strengthen Viu’s position and resonate with our Viu-ers across markets. We are extremely proud of Finding The Rainbow, which uses historical events as a background for the internationally recognised cast to shine and tell a compelling story. The production standards for this Viu Original were certainly more demanding. We sought to be as authentic as possible down to the location and wardrobe to bring the audience back in time.”
The title premiered in Bangkok today at a star-studded event which included leads Nichkhun Horvejkul and Sushar Manaying. The rest of the cast includes popular Thai actors Itthipat Thani, Prachaya Ruangroj, Nalinthip Phoemphattharasakun and Pakpoom Jongmanwattana.
Nichkhun is a familiar face to both the Thai and international markets, having starred in a number of productions in addition to being a member of K-Pop band 2PM. He also starred in My Bubble Tea, another Viu Original in 2020. Playing his love interest is singer and actress Sushar Manaying who has starred in a number of Thai and Chinese productions, including 2021’s Bangkok Breaking.
Finding the Rainbow is an engaging story of love, dreams, and friendship that takes place over the course of several significant historical eras over 30 years from 1992. The series portrays a love story about Nont (played by Nichkhun) and Fern (played by Sushar Manaying) who meet for the first time during the pandemonium of the Black May event in 1992. Their love slowly grows and traverses important historical events, including the Tom Yum King Crisis, the events of 9/11 and the COVID-19 pandemic.
