Award-winning factual prodco SeaLight Pictures (co-producers of the highly-acclaimed Life in Colour with David Attenborough) is delighted to announce two new hires.
Alasdair Dolan has been appointed to the newly created position of Head of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships effective immediately. As part of his remit, he will be responsible for optimising SeaLight’s industry partnerships with a focus on content development, whilst supporting the team with emerging trends and providing guidance on long-term objectives as the company continues to expand.
Alasdair joins SeaLight from Flame Media Group where he was Head of Business Development and External Relationships. During his 6 ½ year tenure, Alasdair managed the Flame Co-production Alliance (a network of likeminded producers combining strengths and resources to create international content), the company’s stock footage library, and worked closely with the distribution team to create new concepts, programme ideas, written treatments and finance plans.
Veteran ocean-loving factual producer Sarah Beard has also joined as Series Producer. She is currently working on Secrets of the Octopus (for Nat Geo/Disney+), SeaLight’s latest premium doc series executive produced by James Cameron. Passionate about creating content that celebrates the natural world and raises awareness about its perils, Sarah was recently CEO of “Take 3 for the Sea”, a marine plastic pollution advocacy group. Prior to this, her long list of impressive documentary producer credits includes Sea Lions: Life by a Whisker (IMAX), the multi-award-winning film BLUE, and Great Barrier Reef: the Next Generation (ABC), to name just a few.
Colette Beaudry, Managing Director and Co-Founder, SeaLight Pictures said: “We are increasingly working with networks early on in the production cycle; having Alasdair on board to assist with international partners and presales will enable us to extend our reach even further. And with another talented producer like Sarah joining our team, we look forward to creating more compelling blue-chip programmes for a global audience.”
Adam Geiger, Creative Director and Co-Founder added: “With more bespoke SeaLight concepts and filming technologies underway, it’s great timing for our new team members. We are driven to create standout programming that can raise awareness of key issues and have a positive impact on current and future generations.”
SeaLight will be attending the world-renowned Wildscreen Festival in Bristol next month.
