iQIYI has in store a spectacular cast and unconventional storylines in their upcoming shows. This August, look forward to three original films exclusive to iQIYI. The Hidden Fox (雪 山飞狐之塞北宝藏), which will be released on 19 August, is an adaptation of one of popular wuxia novelist Jin Yong’s most iconic novels, where villains in the story go after an ancient treasure left by a king; In Our Prime (奇怪的数学家), a South Korean film starring Oldboy’s Choi Min-Sik, which will be released on 20 August; Stellar: A Magical Ride (超跑斯特拉), is another South Korean comedy film that will screen from 27 August, with Reply 1994’s Son Ho-Jun.
Alongside the new films, four C-dramas are also in the pipeline and are expected to air soon, leaving viewers with plenty to anticipate from August and beyond. The list includes Thousand Year for You (请 君) starring Ren Jia Lun and Li Qin, Hello My Love (芳心荡漾) starring Qin Lan, Lan Yingying, and Zheng He Hui Zi, Mr. Bad (我的反派男友) starring Chen Zheyuan and Shen Yue, and Chasing the Undercurrent (潜流追踪) starring Tony Yang and Huang Jingyu.

The Hidden Fox (雪山飞狐之塞北宝藏)

Directed by Qiao Lei, the latest Chinese wuxia thriller is a collaboration with Producer Lu Yang, known for his work on Brotherhood of Blades (绣春刀) which saw a stellar reception by fans of the genre. The enthralling storyline plays true to Jin Yong’s novel of a similar title, Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain.
Follow Gui Yu, played by Zhao Hua Wei 赵华为, and Qing Wen, played by Chen Yusi 陈雨锶 (Out of The Dream) on a journey across the treacherous peaks of Feihu mountain to avenge his father’s death as the guardian of a lost treasure left by the king ten years ago. His tragic death was the result of a battle between martial arts master Miao Renfeng, who also died in the fight that went down in history.
Ten years later, the map to the treasure resurfaces, leading to another race between martial artists across the realm to get to the treasure.
In Our Prime (奇怪的数学家)
Premieres August 20
Yet another blockbuster starring legendary actor Choi Min-Sik, who is known for his leading role in Oldboy. He plays the role of Lee Hak-sung, a genius mathematician who defects from North Korea. In his pursuit of freedom, he masks his identity with a facade of indifference, till he meets a needy student Han Ji-Woo, played by Kim Dong-Hee (SKY Castle, Itaewon Class), who yearns to learn and understand the greater questions in life through math.
Stellar: A Magical Ride (超跑斯特拉)
Premieres August 27
A lighthearted South Korean comedy that shadows the life of Young Bae, played by Son Ho-Jun (Reply 1994, Was It Love?) who finds himself in trouble while working as an automobile handler and struggling to come to terms with his father’s death. Upon discovery of Stellar, the beat-up Sedan that his dad drove as a taxi to make ends meet for the family, he slowly picks up the pieces and learns to accept the lessons that his dad left for him in the form of memories. Expect a good laugh with a remarkable cast including
the likes of Lee Kyu-Hyung (Prison Playbook, Hi, Bye, Mama!) and Heo Sung-Tae (The Outlaws, Squid Game).
