TVU Networks, the global leader in IP- and cloud-based live video solutions, announced today that their products enabled TikTok’s sister app, Douyin, to broadcast the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ New Year’s Science Speech Series to millions of Chinese viewers from December 29 to 31, 2021. Sponsored by the Beijing Science and Technology Association and the Beijing Radio and Television Bureau, the multi-day celebration included stories and speeches from academicians and researchers highlighting Beijing’s key scientific achievements, current technological and scientific innovations, and cross-border collaborations.
The New Year’s event was part of an ongoing partnership between the Communications Bureau and Institute of Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and ByteDance-owned Douyin to celebrate the nation’s commitment to scientific renaissance. To ensure the live event’s success despite strict COVID-19 restrictions, Douyin selected TVU Networks’ live broadcast solutions: TVU One mobile transmitter, TVU server, and the TVU Producer cloud-based production platform. This integrated platform enabled real-time, high-quality video transmission of the three-day event, bringing the speakers and their topics to life for Chinese viewers.
Organizers invited well-known media personalities Wang Xuechun from China Central Television (CCTV) and Li Jie from Beijing Media Network (BTV) to serve as hosts to the eleven scientists, the Old Scientist Choir from Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Material Spirit Band from the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Beijing Angelic Choir. Topics ranged from the personal stories behind major scientific achievements to Beijing’s contributions to science and technology to the possibility of alien life in the universe.
