Fremantle announced that the 4 x 60’ high-end fashion series Kingdom of Dreams has been acquired by HBO Max in Europe, Latin America and Asia, as well as Crave in Canada.

Employing a bold cinematic approach to non-fiction storytelling, Kingdom of Dreams will be a visually dazzling chronicle of the fashion world spanning three decades – from the early-1990s to the 2010s. It is a Golden Age, a time when the forces of ground-breaking creativity and disruptive business converge and collide.

Kingdom of Dreams is created by London-based Misfits Entertainment, whose credits include high-end feature documentaries such as the BAFTA-nominated McQueen, and the Emmy-winning Netflix documentary Rising Phoenix. The series, which is produced in collaboration with Fremantle will harness rare library material, never-before-seen personal archives, powerful visuals and story-driven interviews to bring this Golden Age to electrifying life on the screen.

As fashion explodes out of the traditional, elite kingdoms of haute couture and style – Paris, Milan, London and New York – to become a truly global phenomenon. Unfolding over four episodes, the series will chart a high-stakes story packed with the seductive beauty and dramatic intrigue behind the most iconic fashion moments and shows of the era.

These presales deals with HBO Max and Crave were brokered by Jamie Lynn, EVP Co-Production & Distribution, EMEA and Michela DiMondo, EVP of Distribution & Sales, Canada at Fremantle. The series will be distributed internationally by Fremantle.

In the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria, the series will launch on Sky Documentaries.

Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, Misfits Entertainment, creators and executive producers of Kingdom of Dreams, said, “We are thrilled that HBO and Crave have come on board, and   we can’t wait to share Kingdom of Dreams with audiences all over the world. We want to create an ambitious, landmark piece of event television, and we are immensely grateful to Fremantle and Sky for giving us the opportunity to return to the fashion world and expand on the narrative approach we evolved for McQueen.”

Jamie Lynn, EVP Co-Production & Distribution, EMEA at Fremantle comments, “Developing such a bold and ground-breaking piece of event television with the Misfits team has been an absolute joy and this series perfectly encapsulates the type of exciting, must-see narrative documentary series that Sky is known for. We are certain that Kingdom of Dreams will enthral international audiences, by capturing the story of style, high fashion and its creative power houses in a contemporary way.”

Kingdom of Dreams, is a 4×60’ thrilling archive-led story set in the world of fashion. Produced by award-winning production company, Misfits Entertainment, in collaboration with Fremantle, the Sky Original series will launch in 2022.
