Leading Asian entertainment streaming platform iQiyi continues to expand its range of quality content with a fresh slate of anime available on demand. In the first nine months of 2021 to date, iQiyi’s anime content drove strong viewership across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Anime content exceeded 650 million views with almost 95 million cumulative hours watched.
iQiyi announced on 1 October its year-end anime slate led by the popular Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc, My Hero Academia films, as well as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Asakusa Arc and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tsuzumi Mansion Arc movies. The list also features heroic-fantasy series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (Part 2) and How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, paranormal-themed The Vampire Dies in No Time and Mieruko-chan, along with light romance series My Senpai Is Annoying and Taisho Otome Fairy Tale, among 27 titles that are new on iQiyi.
Highlights of the anime films on iQiyi are My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, all-time One Piece favourites including One Piece Film: Z (2012), One Piece Film: Gold (2016), One Piece: Episode of East Blue (2017), One Piece: Episode of Skypiea (2018) and One Piece: Stampede (2019). In addition, Thai-dubbed versions of Demon Slayer : Kimetsu no Yaiba, The Detective Is Already Dead, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom(Part 1) and BORUTO-NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS- will also launch on the platform.
Created by Japanese manga artist Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer’s first season Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba garnered high praise from viewers, and its film sequel Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train made history as the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time in Japan. Succeeding the storyline is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc, which tells the tale of Tengen Uzui, Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, leading Tanjiro Kamado and friends in a crusade against the Twelve Kizuki’s Gyutaro and Daki.
Continuing in the hit fantasy genre, the series adaptation of light novel Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (Part 2) continues the story of a jobless and hopeless man who reincarnates with his memories of a fantasy world, and resolves to find success. Meanwhile, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom (Part 1) is produced by Takashi Watanabe, the director of film Slayers and his team, where protagonist Kazuya Souma lands in a European kingdom during the Middle Ages and uses his knowledge of modern-day science to reform the country and improve the lives of all.
In the supernatural genre, horrifying yet heartwarming developments in The Vampire Dies in No Time, starring the weakest vampire in history, and Mieruko-chan with terrifying spirits will leave viewers wanting more! The Vampire Dies in No Time is dubbed by legendary voice actors Jun Fukuyama (Assassination Classroom) and Makoto Furukawa (One Punch Man), where vampire hunter Ronaldo arrives at the castle of Dralc, who is rumoured to be invincible, and finds out that Dralc can instantly be defeated and turns into dust! Adapted from the popular manga, Mieruko-chan tells the tale of Miko, whose resolve to be indifferent towards the supernatural is challenged when her friend Hana naturally attracts ghosts and wannabe-exorcist Yuria is constantly around her.
