A+E Networks has promoted Saugato Banerjee to Managing Director, Asia, from his previous role of Managing Director, North Asia, it was announced by Patrick Vien, Group Managing Director, International, A+E Networks.
The move will effectively consolidate operations across the entire Asia region under the control of a single executive.
In this role, Banerjee will be responsible for Southeast Asia, North Asia (Korea, China, Japan), Taiwan, Hong Kong, and India, where he will chart the continued growth and expansion of A+E Networks throughout the region.
A veteran of A+E Networks, Banerjee joined the company in 2011. During his tenure he has been a vital force in driving A+E’s expansion, innovation and business execution in the region. As Managing Director, North Asia, he developed strategic media and production partnerships, heralded the successful launches of History and Lifetime in Korea, and played a key role in achieving record ratings for History Japan.
Through his tenure Banerjee has been integral to the growth of A+E Networks across Asia. He played a key role in the rapid expansion of the SEA business and oversaw the Digital, Operations and Research functions in the region. He also carried out responsibilities as a caretaker GM of AETN 18 in India during a crucial period of change.
Prior to his assignment at A+E Networks, Banerjee held various roles in media and advertising in his previous jobs at ESPN STAR Sports, CNBC Asia Pacific, Contract Advertising and FCB India. He is an Economics graduate with a post graduate diploma in Marketing Communications.
