Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE), operator of the largest bouquet of pan-Asian channels dedicated to Asian entertainment, finished 2018 on a high note with 7.6 million additional subscribers and stellar ratings for its channels.
Celestial’s footprint expanded significantly in 2018, with 7.6 million additional subscribers driven by new deals in Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and Myanmar, across the Network’s Celestial Movies, CCM, KIX, Thrill and Miao Mi services. New affiliates added in 2018 include Korea Telecom’s olleh tv and LG U+ in Korea; Vietnam Television Cable Corporation’s VTVCab, Viettel’s nextTV and FPT Telecom’s FPT in Vietnam; Telkomsel’s MAXstream in Indonesia; and CANAL+ Myanmar FG in Myanmar.
CTE’s channel brands also achieved stellar ratings in 2018 across key measured markets in Southeast Asia. Celestial Movies (CM), CCM, cHK, KIX and Thrill all achieved significant viewership growth in 2018.
In the Philippines, three CTE channels (KIX, Thrill and Celestial Movies Pinoy) were among the top 20 pay TV channels in the country in 2018. In addition, KIX continued to be the #1 regional English general entertainment (GE) channel in 2018, growing its national audience by 17%, while Thrill also attracted notable viewership, growing 33% in 2018. During the same time, Celestial Movies Pinoy was among the top 5 highest-rated channels among all pay TV channels on Cignal’s platform with their audience in 2018, doubling its audience size last year . The channel also ranked in the top 10 pay TV channels among cable and satellite viewers.
In Singapore, cHK, CCM and CM were in the top 20 most-watched pay TV channels among Chinese audiences in 2018. Among Singtel’s audiences, cHK was the third most-watched channel among all pay TV channels, growing viewership by 19%.
In Malaysia, CCM, CM and CMHD were in the top 20 most-watched pay TV channels among Chinese audiences in 2018. These three channels were also the three most-watched movie channels among Astro Chinese audiences, and KIX HD was the #2 regional English GE channel among Astro viewers in same year.
In Indonesia, CCM and CM were in the top 20 most-watched pay TV channels among 5+ and 20+ audiences in the second half of 2018.
