Altice Studio brings “Tin Star” to France

June 25, 2018 by TVA Editor

LONDON – Sky Vision and Endemol Shine International have announced a new distribution deal with Altice Studio that will see the French broadcaster acquire exclusive rights for hit drama series Tin Star. As part of the agreement, Altice has also pledged to take a lifetime commitment for Tin Star with the first (10 x 60’) series premiering this winter.

Starring BAFTA award winner Tim Roth (The Hateful Eight) and Emmy nominated Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), penned by acclaimed screenwriter, Rowan Joffe (28 Weeks Later, The American) and produced by Kudos (Grantchester, Humans, Broadchurch), Tin Star is an epic tale of the corruption of innocence, of murder, of grief and of all-consuming revenge.

The first season, which premiered in the UK in October, has already had over 20 million downloads and is proving popular with audiences across the globe. Season 2 is currently in production on location in Canada, with John Lynch (The Fall, Sliding Doors), Anamaria Marinca (The Missing, Mars) and Jenessa Grant (The Handmaid’s Tale) joining the all-star line-up.

Tin Star has been an international hit, with sales to Amazon (USA), Sky (Germany, Italy), BBC Worldwide (Australia, Benelux, Africa, South Africa), Turner (Latin America), C More (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden), 365 Media (Iceland), HBO Europe (Balkans, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Moldova), MTV Networks Europe (Baltics), Telefonica Audiovisual Digital (Spain), Hellenic Telecommunications (Greece), iFlix (Middle East, Africa, South Africa), MTV Networks Europe, lui.ru LLC and LLC a serial (CIS), Lightbox and Mediaworks TV (New Zealand), and Sinema TV (Cyprus, Turkey).

The series has also sold for Home Entertainment to Dazzler Media (UK) and RLJ Entertainment (Australia).

Tin Star tells the story of Jim Worth, a former British detective now small town police chief who brings his family to the stunning Rocky Mountain town of Little Big Bear for a fresh start and a peaceful life. Part drama, part thriller and part dark comedy, Tin Star is an exhilaratingly smart, breathlessly suspenseful thrill ride of a show as deceit, guilt, love, and all-consuming rage lead inexorably to a gut-wrenching finale.

Genevieve O’Reilly (Star Wars, The Honourable Woman), Abigail Lawrie (The Casual Vacancy), Oliver Coopersmith (Dickensian), Christopher Heyerdahl (True Blood, Hell on Wheels), Stephen Walters (Outlander), Ian Puleston-Davies (Marcella), Roark Critchlow (Pretty Little Liars), Sarah Podemski (Cashing In), Ryan Kennedy (Major Crimes) and Kevin Hanchard (Orphan Black) line up alongside lead actors Tim Roth and Christina Hendricks.

Written and created by BAFTA award-winning writer/director Rowan Joffe (28 Weeks Later, The American), commissioned for Sky by Head of Drama Anne Mensah, Commissioning Editor Cameron Roach and Sky’s Director of Programmes Zai Bennett, Tin Star is executive produced by Alison Jackson (Hunted) and Kudos CEO Diederick Santer (Grantchester) and Season one is produced by Jonathan Curling (The Secret) for Kudos, part of the Endemol Shine Group.

Tin Star is jointly distributed by Endemol Shine International and Sky Vision.
