BERLIN – FremantleMedia International is teaming up with Deutsche Telekom’s EntertainTV to bring the epic new drama Picnic at Hanging Rock (6×60’) to German audiences later this year.
Expanding its high end drama offering, Deutsche Telekom has acquired the German rights to the FremantleMedia Australia produced series starring Natalie Dormer(Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Parts 1 and 2, In Darkness) as English headmistress Mrs Hester Appleyard.
Picnic at Hanging Rock is a gripping reimagining of the iconic Joan Lindsay novel that plunges viewers into the mysterious disappearances of three schoolgirls and their governess on Valentine’s Day, 1900. Exploring the event’s far-reaching impact on the students and staff of Appleyard College and its enigmatic headmistress, theories soon abound, paranoia sets in, and long-held secrets surface, as the Rock exerts its strange power and the dark stain of the unsolved mystery continues to spread.
The Appleyard College student roles are played by an exciting contingent of rising stars, including Lily Sullivan (Camp, Jungle) as Miranda Reid, Madeleine Madden (Tomorrow When The War Began, High Life) as Marion Quade, Samara Weaving (Monster Trucks, The Babysitter) as Irma Leopold, Ruby Rees (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries) as Edith Horton and introducing Inez Curro as Sara Waybourne.
