LONDON – Banijay Group’s Zodiak Kids, De Agostini Editore, Planeta Junior & Animasia announce today that their animated preschool hit Magiki has sold into Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
The 52 x 11’ upper preschool show has been picked up by Discovery Kids for its services in the Middle East and North Africa. In Russia, Magiki has been acquired by Karusel, the public broadcaster dedicated to kids and youth TV. The show has also been sold to ITI Neovision in Poland for children’s channel MiniMini+.
Magiki is based on the DeAgostini collectible figurines range which launched in 2009 and has sold over 25 million products worldwide. The series launched late last year on DeA Junior in Italy and on Lagardère’s channel Tiji ahead of its broadcast in spring 2018 on free to air Gulli in France. A Zodiak Kids Studios co-production with De Agostini Editore, Planeta Junior and Animasia for Gulli, Magiki, is executive produced by Eryk Casemiro from Zodiak Kids Studios alongside Edmund Chan, and Raye Lee, executive director of Animasia Studio.
Magiki is a fantasy land of ditzy fairies and sassy mermaids where Princess Billie explores real world issues of fairness, sibling rivalry and self-confidence. Billie is a sweet, curious kid, a bit of a tomboy who doesn’t do pink! Then she uses her magic key to open a toy box and enter the enchanted world of Magiki. Here, she’s a People’s Princess, kind, generous and fair. As in real life, if there’s trouble in the kingdom, it’s usually because of her cheeky twin sisters, who inhabit Magiki as pesky princesses Marie and Antoinette (9). Helped by her toys, Sir Kitty Cat, lady Fiona and Countess Elizabeth, and the boy next door, Truman, who is transformed into Master Truman, her trusted counsel, Billie tries to be a good friend to everyone and make the world a better place.
