London – Keshet International (KI) and Sr. Mono (a NewCom Company) is developing a Spanish Language crime thriller series, Alone (working title) with veteran film and TV writer Curro Royo attached it was announced by Atar Dekel, Global Head of Coproductions at KI.
In Alone, the country’s most prestigious lawyer takes on an impossible case of a woman who is charged with murdering her lover, his wife and their eight year old child and succeed in getting her acquitted. Over the course of the trial, they unwittingly fall in love and proceed to get married and have a child together. 10 years later, Sebastian realizes he has made a mistake and that his wife may have been guilty after all.
Curro Royo has been a film and television writer for more than 20 years and was formerly Head of the Spanish Writer’s Guild (until this month). He wrote on TVE’s Cuéntame Cómo Pasó, one of the longest-running dramas in the world, for ten seasons and his feature films include the critically acclaimed: El Club de Los Suicidas (2007) and El Arte de Morir (2000), among others.
His career began writing for the classic series Médico de Familia (Tele 5) since then, he has worked as creator, head writer, co-executive producer and staff writer on several TV shows, including Periodistas (Tele 5) and El Comisario (Tele 5). His more recent projects include Las aventuras del Capitán Alatriste, an adaptation of the bestseller novels by Arturo Pérez Reverte co-produced by Tele 5, Beta Film and Arte, Olmos y Robles, a crime drama produced by TVE 1 and Servir y Proteger, a police drama produced by TVE1.
Sr. Mono Producciones is a newly created production company founded by the Sanish EP and director Cesar Rodriguez Blanco (Dr. Mateo, La Princesa de Eboli, Karabudyan) and joined by factual and entertainment creators and EPs Javier Pérez de Silva (Stand Up For Your Country, Gypsy Kings, Little Giants, Ben 10 Challenge) and Joaquín Zamora (Survivor, Super Shore, Palabra de Gitano) for the unscripted area. It is a boutique production company aimed to create relevant and daring content in Spanish for the world. Sr. Mono is currently piloting a series for a global OTT platform.
