The Voice scores top ratings in Singapore & Malaysia

November 1, 2017 by TVA Editor

Singapore – mm2 Entertainment Pte Ltd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of mm2 Asia Ltd.) the producer of “The Voice决战好声” and co-producers Astro and StarHub, announced that TV ratings for the highly successful format have been on the rise since it started broadcast on 17 September 2017.

Mr Chang Long Jong, mm2 Asia Ltd’s Chief Executive Officer said, “We are delighted at the tremendous viewership success of ‘The Voice决战好声’ on both StarHub and Astro. The four coaches in the show have been superb. Many talents have also performed exceedingly well, with some providing the added bonus of very interesting back stories. Our production team continues to work very hard with the coaches and all the talents involved to deliver even more exciting and entertaining episodes as the series builds up to its dramatic finale on 17 December.”

Ms Wong Siah Ping, Vice President of Chinese Customer Business, Astro said, “We are encouraged by the overwhelming support for The Voice on all our platforms. Since its debut, The Voice has been the highest rated show year-to-date for the 8.30pm primetime slot, dominating Astro’s Chinese-language channels for five consecutive weeks. On digital, we achieved 7 million digital views, 15 million social media reach and still growing strong.”

Ms Lee Soo Hui, Head of Content Business Unit, StarHub said, “We are thrilled to share that ‘The Voice决战好声’ is the highest rated programme across all our Asian Channels in 2017. For Hub E City alone, viewership is at least two times higher compared to the average time belt performance year-to-date. Powered by the witty banter of the coaches and amazing vocal quality of the talents, the show has clearly struck a chord with the Singapore audience. In addition, it is quickly gaining momentum with episode four recording an 83% increase in viewership compared to the season premiere. As we are still only in the blind audition rounds, we believe the best is yet to come. We would like to thank viewers for their strong support and we will continue to work closely with our partners to deliver even more exciting content.”

This is the first time that The Voice is produced across two territories; Singapore and Malaysia. The first season of the singing competition will span across 14 episodes with five different stages – The Blind Auditions, Battle Round, KO Round, ending with live telecasts of the Semi-Finals and Finals. Upon the conclusion of the blind auditions, each coach will have 12 talents in their team.

Competition heats up in the upcoming Battle Rounds where two talents from the same team will be tasked to perform a duet selected by their coach. The coach will then be required to choose a talent to proceed on to the next round. The highlight of the Battle Rounds comes when coaches have two ‘steals’ each and are able to snatch contestants who have been eliminated by other coaches. At the end of the battle round, each coach will have eight talents.

Similar to the Battle Round, in the KO round, talents will compete against another member of their team. At the end of both performances, only one talent will be selected to stay on in the competition. The coaches have to evaluate and decide who they want to keep on their team and only half the team will make it to the Semi-Finals.

Following the KO Round, 16 talents will compete in the Semi-Finals which will be broadcast live. The elimination will continue until four talents remain, leaving one to be crowned the first winner of “The Voice 决战好声”. This season’s winner will be determined by public voting.

“The Voice 决战好声” is proudly presented by ‘Huawei’. The other sponsors and partners include ‘Ah Huat’ (Main Sponsor), ‘A1’ (Supporting Partner), ‘StarHub’ (Official Telco, Singapore), ‘MARIGOLD Peel Fresh chilled juice’ (Main Sponsor, Singapore)‘, ‘Kinohimitsu Collagen’ (Main Sponsor, Malaysia), ‘OSIM’ (Co-Sponsor, Malaysia), Cocoaland Lot 100 Mango Gummy (Co-Sponsor, Malaysia) , ‘Singapore Press Holdings Chinese Media Group’ (Strategic Partners, Singapore), ‘SPH UFM 100.3’ (Official Radio Station, Singapore), ‘MY FM’ (Official Radio Station, Malaysia) and international music label, ‘Universal Music Group’.
