MAKE Productions expands production reach to Asia

November 2, 2017 by TVA Editor

Renowned BAFTA Award-winning documentary film-makers MAKE Productions are expanding their Asian reach to include large scale reality formats, lifestyle programming and docu-series, as they establish both new Network Production Services and Original Content Development divisions.

Brad Cox

This launch follows the imminent release of their groundbreaking original series for HBO Asia and Star India – The Talwars: Behind Closed Doors, and will capitalize on the company’s growing momentum.

Heading up this expansion initiative is MAKE Production’s newly appointed Head of Content and Development, regional network and production veteran Brad Cox, who will to be based in Singapore.

Brad’s 20+ year regional experience encompasses some of SE Asia’s most successful shows such as Amazing Race Asia, Cashcab Asia, Football Asia and Asia’s Next Top Model.

Brad has also spent a considerable amount of time working on global productions, and this year alone has seen Brad work in Mexico City, Moscow, Tel Aviv, NYC, Singapore, Bali and Bishkek.

Brad has held had network roles at ANTV- Indonesia and AETN-Singapore  over the past few years and created the iconic Bule Gila in Indonesia as well as a considerable number of other successful formats for local South East Asian markets.

MAKE Productions are already in early talks with a number of strategic regional partners and will announce the details of these arrangements as they come to fruition over the coming months.

“We are looking to bring a fresh approach to how large scale productions are executed with the established networks here in SE Asia.  Our aim is to put more value on the screen, where it matters most,” says Cox.   “We will also offer a far greater degree of transparency in budgets and work much more closely with network sales teams to maximize their client value.  We want to provide engaging and compelling content without losing sight of the commercial aspects of television production,” Cox adds.

MAKE Productions has already established a considerable slate of refreshingly new original projects that cover a wide variety of genres for the key markets.”

“We are keen to get our original ideas into the market place and establish MAKE Productions as a highly innovative and leading regional content producer,” said Cox

Speaking from the London office, Sarah Macdonald, Director and Co-founder says: “MAKE Productions has grown exponentially over the last four years, but with Brad’s broad spectrum experience across the Asian region in factual entertainment and lifestyle programming, we believe we can add to our award-winning repertoire with quality programming in genres as yet new to us.  Brad has an incredible reputation, and we are very excited to grow a whole new division with him.”

“Our successful investigative and more hard-hitting factual will remain under the stewardship of Eamon O Connor, and of course Sian Kevill and I will continue to knock on commissioners doors’ both in Asia and internationally.”
