Globo will be in London November 13-18 for the 6th edition of the Focus Brasil and Press Awards UK, events dedicated to discussing matters of interest to the Brazilian community living in the UK. With a presence spanning over 40 years on the international market and 7 international channels created for Portuguese-speaking communities abroad, the company takes advantage of this opportunity to further strengthen its close ties with Brazilians living in that region, promoting the exchange of ideas and entrepreneurship in the community.
In addition, Globo will invite digital influencers to join the conversation on Globo International social media, and will also produce content exclusive to Focus Brasil and to the Press Awards UK with the help of journalist Juliana Yonezawa, who has already hosted the ‘Globo Europa’ show.
In this edition, Focus Brasil UK will address subjects such as the Brazilian women and entrepreneurship, as well as digital influencers in the UK. Discussion panels about business, community media, and the promotion of Portuguese as a heritage language are also part of the program.
The Press Awards honors the most outstanding Brazilians in the territory in 24 categories, including Entrepreneurship, Social Action, Digital Experience, among others. The awards ceremony will take place on November 18, at 7:00 p.m., in the Hyde Park Room at the AMBA Hotel Marble Arch.
“Globo maintains a close relationship with more than 3 million subscribers to its channels worldwide. We are where our audience is. We are happy to contribute to Brazilians meeting in the UK and other regions, and to promote entrepreneurship within this community,” said Raphael Corrêa Netto, Globo’s Executive Director of International Business.
Created in 2006, Focus Brasil aims to address a variety of issues pertaining to Brazilian communities abroad. In addition to the UK, the event also holds annual editions in the United States and Japan.
Praised as one of the greatest producers of content worldwide — with an average annual production of 3,000 hours of entertainment and 3,000 hours of journalism — and with works licensed to more than 170 countries, Globo also relies on its international paid TV channels created in 1999 to meet the needs of Brazilians and Portuguese-speaking communities outside of Brazil. Today, they are present on all continents and transmitted via satellite, cable, IPTV and OTT. Programming includes real-time news, live sportscasts, telenovelas, miniseries, children’s programs and variety shows, winning over audiences around the world throughout the years. The network is mostly distributed via OTT (through the internet) in Europe, but it also includes satellite, cable and IPTV broadcasts, especially in France and Switzerland.
