ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has announced that its international hit format, Come Dine With Me, is coming to Spain. Ven A Cenar Conmigo will be produced for Mediaset España’s Cuatro channel by Warner Bros. International Television Production Spain (WBITVP Spain), who acquired the format rights. Each week five contestants will battle it out to be rewarded with the ‘ultimate dinner party host’ title and win a cash prize of 3,000 euros.
The deal with WBITVP Spain for Cuatro follows on from the announcement at MIPTV earlier this year that Mongol TV had bought the rights to the show, taking the number of countries the unscripted factual entertainment format has now been sold in to over 40.
Jennifer Ebell, Senior Vice President EMEA Sales at ITVS GE who brokered the deal, said: “The success of the show speaks for itself and we are delighted that WBITVP Spain has become the latest international production company to acquire the rights, and Mediaset España the latest international network to commission the format. We are looking forward to working with Cuatro and Warner Bros on their production and are really excited about seeing one of our most enduring global formats returning to the Spanish market.”
Come Dine With Me follows amateur chefs competing against each other to host a dinner party for the other contestants. Each competitor then rates the host’s performance and at the end of the week the winner is rewarded.
