Mumbai – Vuclip, a PCCW Media Company, and the leading premium video-on-demand service provider for emerging markets will now stream its content to millions of customers in India on the newly launched Amazon Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote. This will allow viewers across the nation to access Viu content on their television sets, which will offer increased reach for Viu in a nation that has traditionally been home to one-screen households.
Viu is part of a premium deal that the global majors have inked. This collaboration will result in streaming premium content to millions of viewers in India, ranging from Viu’s popular Originals co-produced with Vikram Bhatt’s Loneranger Productions, such as Gehraiyaan and Spotlight, and Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios, such as PillA and Pelli Gola, to underexposed content across Hindi and Telugu such as Masaan, Kabali and 7 to 4.
Speaking of the association, Vishal Maheshwari, India Country Manager, Vuclip India said, “Viu content is being applauded across different media and the Fire Stick coming to India was an opportune moment for us to take it to a wider audience. Even as adoption of mobile devices and multiple screens grow at a rapid pace, the television screen has traditionally been something that brings the family together in India. This gives us an opportunity to give that many more households the pleasure of our premium exclusive content.”
Gehraiyaan and Spotlight, Viu’s latest foray in the Originals category have been drawing praise across quarters, and will now be available to users on the big screen. “Fire TV Stick is the best device to stream movies, serials and music on your TV. Viu provides differentiated content that is best viewed on a Fire TV Stick within the comforts of your living room, on a big screen. We are excited to offer Viu’s selection of content for our customers,” said Vijay Talwar, General Manager – Sales, Amazon Devices in India.
