Moscow and Amsterdam – TV-3 has licensed from CBS Studios International the free-to-air rights in Russia to the new SHOWTIME limited event series Twin Peaks. The series will be broadcast on TV-3 24 hours after the premiere of the series in the States.
Twin Peaks is written and executive produced by series creators David Lynch and Mark Frost, and is executive produced by Sabrina S. Sutherland. All 18 parts of the new series are directed entirely by David Lynch. An official list of the cast involved in the new series has been released: among them are Kyle MacLachlan, David Duchovny, Sheryl Lee, Monica Bellucci and Tim Roth.
“In the ‘90s Twin Peaks revolutionized television. David Lynch achieved the impossible by creating a new television drama format and found a completely different way to interact with the audience,” said Valery Fyodorovich, General Director of TV-3. “That’s why the new Twin Peaks fits perfectly into our philosophy, Everything but the ordinary. We are the first Russian broadcast channel to show the new season of the cult series, for which the whole world has been waiting 25 years for.”
“The new Twin Peaks captures all the mystery and intrigue of the original series and will excite existing fans and attract a new generation of audience,” said Barry Chamberlain, President of Sales, CBS Studios International. “We are pleased to work with TV-3 to be the first linear channel to bring Twin Peaks to Russia.”
