Halifax, NS– DHX Media, the world’s leading independent, pure-play children’s content company, has signed an exclusive deal with ZDF to launch season one of its new Teletubbies series on children’s channel KiKA in Germany. The launch will build on the huge success of the original version of the iconic preschool show that first aired in Germany in 1999.
Josh Scherba, EVP Distribution and Content at DHX Media, said: “Kids are now enjoying the new Teletubbies show in more than 24 territories around the world. As we continue this global rollout, Germany is a key market, so we are thrilled that the region’s top kids’ channel, KiKA, has picked up the new series. The original Teletubbies was a huge success in Germany, and we’re building on this fantastic heritage with the new series.”
As the flagship property in DHX Media’s strategy to build global brands, the new Teletubbies continues to perform extremely well and is gaining international momentum. Globally, the licensing program is growing rapidly, with more than 85 top-tier partners signed to date, underscoring its position as one of the best-loved and most recognizable children’s properties.
The new Teletubbies follows the same four huggable characters and styling as the original show and has been visually modernized by DHX Media and award-winning U.K. production company, Darrall Macqueen, bringing a refreshed and contemporary look and feel to one of the world’s favourite preschool properties.
