The Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games are now only three years away. In February, NHK WORLD TV will introduce international viewers to the attractions of Tokyo as well as its neighbouring prefectures: Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba. The programs will be broadcast under the theme “One Step from Tokyo”.
TOKYO EYE 2020 will feature the cities of Kawasaki, Omiya and Funabashi in a three-part series. The profile of Kawasaki (Kanagawa Prefecture) will include the gleaming lights of the factories after dark and a new complex created with international tourists in mind. The Omiya (Saitama Prefecture) coverage includes a railway museum and Japan’s leading producer of rubber masks, which renders the faces of cartoon characters, animals, sporting personalities, and many other subjects in their goods. The Funabashi (Chiba Prefecture) program highlights the port city’s market, with an abundance of seafood, and the streets around a big temple. J-Trip Plan will visit lesser-known attractions of the three prefectures in three days. It also will provide information on a travel pass for visitors from abroad that would be convenient for a 550 km trip from Chichibu (Saitama) through Manazuru (Kanagawa), and on to Choshi (Chiba).
